Otukpo Bank Robbery: Four Suspects arrested as Benue State Government vows to hunt down others

4 suspects have been arrested in connection with Friday’s raid of banks in Otukpo local government area of Benue State, North Central Nigeria, which claimed the lives of the Divisional Police Officer, 3 female police personnel and some civilians with undisclosed sum of money carted away.

State Police Commissioner of Police Bartholomew Onyeke disclosed this while briefing Deputy Governor Samuel Odeh at the crime scene.

While condemning the act Odeh disclosed plans by the State Government to design a new security architecture to respond to such high level of criminality.

Residents of Otukpo, headquarter of Otukpo local council of Benue State are still reeling over Friday’s armed robbery which claimed not just its Divisional Police Officer but 3 other personnel while some residents were caught in the crossfire.

A chase ensued with the joint security effort yielding results as 2 of the suspected robbers were gunned down.

This attracted the attention of the Deputy Governor Samuel Odeh who hails from the area, he was immediately briefed by security personnel on results achieved so far.

The Deputy Governor visited survivors at the general hospital as well as the Royal Specialist Hospital Otukpo.

State commissioner of police speaks on the progress made so far urging residents to work with them towards arresting all the other perpetrators.

No fewer than 4 banks as well as the police station were struck mid Friday spreading panic in not just the local council and the Zone but the entire State and country.
