The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has condemned the Federal government’s decision to increase the pump price of petrol and electricity tariff, describing it as anti-masses.
Members of ASUU, Akure Zone, while addressing Journalists, frowned at the inability of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to embark on an indefinite strike following the hike in the fuel price .
The Coordinator of the Akure Zone of ASUU, Prof Olu Olufayo said that it is sad that the NLC has refused to rise to the occasion, by vehemently kicking against the hike.

ASUU said the various increases in tariff will bring untold hardship on Nigerians who are still trying with the challenges the COVID-19 Pandemic has brought on them.
The body has also faulted the calls from different quarters that tertiary institutions should resume amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
The union noted that no higher institution of learning can comply with the covid-19 protocols, due to the high number of students in the different schools.
