First International Flight Arrives Abuja As Passengers Groan Over Cost of Covid-19 Test

The first International flight arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe Intl Airport, Abuja after 5 months closure to contain the spread of Covid-19 with passengers on board complaining about a mandatory payment of N42,000 for the Covid-19 test.

Speaking with AIT, the passengers complained bitterly about the online payment portal which they said was not working properly; causing long queues at the airport and making some persons to missed the flight.

All international passengers to Nigeria are required to pay for COVID-19 test online before boarding the aircraft.

The airlines are mandated to obtain evidence of this payment before allowing the passenger to board.

The Ethiopian Airline flight arrived Abuja with 120 passengers onboard and 13 crew members.

The A350 airplane landed at exactly 1:34pm local time to a ceremonial water-canon by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria and the Fire Service department.

Some of the passengers however commended FAAN over the COVID-19 protocols at the airport compared to other African countries.

This was as the Managing Director, FAAN Rabiu Yadudau who was at the airport to monitor the flight arrival said the resumption of international flights serves as a life saver for the aviation industry.
