Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics Adamawa Chapter protests sacking of 100 federal polytechnic Mubi Staff.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Adamawa State Chapter, has protested against the wrongful sacking of 100 staff, by the outgoing Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Mubi.

The union members, gathered at the Yola campus of the institution, held placards with various inscriptions and chanting the solidarity song.

Some of the placards carried read; ‘where is our 64 months arrears of CONTISS 15?”, “Bring Back whistle-blowers whose appointments were illegally terminated”, “Millions of Naira spent on water in FPM, yet no water”.

The union members led by its chairman, stated these allegations at a press briefing in Yola.

They also decried the refusal of the Rector to implement the Polytechnic Act 2019, as directed by President Muhmmadu Buhari.

Reacting to the allegations leveled against the Rector, a management staff of the institution, Mahmud Suleiman of the School of Business Management Technology says, the action of the union was mere misunderstanding.

The Polytechnic Union members said that the demonstration was to draw the attention of the federal government, to investigate the matter, with a view to strengthening academic excellence in the institution.
