Delta State Government has kick-started the distribution of the first batch of the state’s share of CACOVID palliatives brought to the state some months ago to 13 out of the 25 local government areas of the state.

The distribution took place at the event center Asaba where the food items were stored for onward movement to various local government areas, down towards, and lastly to the various benefitting families.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Mofe Pira, said three trucks loaded with foodstuff were ready to be delivered to the benefiting families while efforts he said were being made to load the remaining ones.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Flora Alanta, said the distribution mode to the first 13 local government areas of the state and subsequent ones would be strictly done according to the laid down principles of the CACOVID.

The Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, used the occasion to announce the state government’s reversal of its earlier downward review of salaries of grade level 7-17 civil servants in the state.

One hundred and seventy-nine vulnerable households selected from the state’s 261 federal wards are expected to benefit from the CACOVID palliatives, a private sector response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
