The Joint Health Workers Union (JOHESU) University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Chapter has joined the nationwide warning strike action by its national body.
Speaking with AIT in Ilorin, the Chairman of the union, Olutunde Oluwawumi said the warning strike is the last option for the union to resist incessant discrimination and disparity between the union members and medical doctors.
Oluwawumi said despite the exposure of the union members to Covid-19; they have been denied full payment of relevant allowances even as medical doctors have continued to enjoy all the benefits.
He said no amount of threat will stop the strike.
The spokesman appealed to the people to bear with the union, arguing that the government could have prevented the strike if it had been truly sensitive and sincere in dealing with the matter.
