The Nigeria Police Council has confirmed the appointment of Kayode Egbetokun as the substantive Inspector-General of Police.

The confirmation was done Tuesday at the State House, as the Council held its first meeting under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The last time the Nigeria Police Council met was in 2021, under the chairmanship of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The meeting confirmed the appointment of Usman Baba as substantive Inspector-General of Police.

This time, Kayode Egbetokun is the substantive Inspector-General of Police.

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohamed, took the opportunity to speak on the political crisis in Rivers State and how the President called for order.

Speaking after the ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar emphasised that having a cordial relationship with the different countries is in the best interest of Nigeria.

The four diplomats are to assume office immediately.
