Reactions have continued to trail Wednesday’s clash between supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Oba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
While the PDP Candidate, Eyitayo Jegede described the incident as an assassination attempt on his life, the ruling APC says the allegation is untrue.
With less than a month to the Ondo State Governorship Election, scheduled for October 10, the political atmosphere seems to be getting charged.
Wednesday’s clash between supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Oba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state, left about 10 persons injured and 20 vehicles belonging to both parties destroyed.

While the PDP candidate, Eyitayo Jegede described the incident as an attempt on human lives, the APC says it is a baseless allegation that cannot be substantiated.
Both parties also lay claim to having approval for their rallies, which were held in the same Senatorial District.
While both parties also called for a full-scale investigation into the clash,the State Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami has warned political parties contesting the Governorship election in the State, to maintain decorum and run their campaign in accordance with the dictates of the law.
