Hundreds of Kogi residents trooped out in the central senatorial district to welcome the newly confirmed Peoples Democratic Party’s Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan after the court of appeal in Abuja affirmed her victory in the February 25th, 2023 election, even as the governorship campaign council resumes activities ahead of Saturday’s poll.
The Court of Appeal dismissed Senator Abubakar Ohere’s petition on Monday, declaring Akpoti-Uduaghan as the legitimate winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election and dismissing Ohere’s appeal for lacking merit.
The People Democratic Party’s governorship candidate Dino Melaye against coming Saturday’s election was at Kogi Central’s country home of the newly confirmed senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, following the Abuja court of appeals affirmation of her victory on Monday.
Five days later, the new federal lawmaker and Melaye received the cheers of homecoming in Kogi Central as a large crowd gathered to welcome Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The new senator used the opportunity to seek the votes of Kogi Central to support the PDP’s governorship candidate to win the coming Saturday’s election for the natural resources of the state to be fully explored and utilized for the development of the state and improvement of the lives of the people.
For Melaye, the need for the people to choose the next governor without tribal sentiments should be prioritized
The PDP’s Kogi governorship campaign had suspended its activities for nearly a week to honour the passing of the ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ado Ibrahim, who died last week.
