Ginsburg

Tributes have been pouring in for United States Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Ginsburg who died on Friday at her home in Washington D.C, aged 87.

President Donald Trump has described her as “an amazing woman who lived an amazing life” and will be greatly missed.

His main challenger in November’s presidential election, Joe Biden said a void has been left on America’s highest court.

Both men are on the campaign train with the vote just over six weeks away.

Admirers of the late justice who was appointed to the United Supreme Court in 1993 by President Bill Clinton, have been visiting her home in the U.S capital to pay their respects with many laying flowers laid at the gate.

In the meantime, the debate over who takes her place on the Supreme Court bench has already commenced with the various sides arguing for and against an immediate replacement.

The Democrats led by its candidate, Joe Biden is clamouring for a stay on a replacement for Ginsburg- a liberal judge who was called to the Bar in 1959, until after the presidential election.

But the leader of the Republican majority U.S Senate, Mitch McConnell, is reported to have said, the chamber awaits President Trump’s nomination.

Ginsburg’s demise leaves the Nine-member Court with more room for conservatives consolidating its hold.
