Ahead of the commencement of repair works on the 3rd Mainland from Monday, November 6th 2023, the Lagos State government has announced the closure of some critical sections of the Oworonsoki- Adekunle and Lagos Island( Adenji Adele) – Adekunle ramps of the bridge.
The state commissioner for transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi who addressed journalists in Lagos on Sunday, says the road will be temporarily closed from 7am Monday for five weeks.
She urged motorists heading to Adekunle axis from Oworonoki to follow alternative routes such as Ikorodu inward Murtala Mohammed Way, Yaba to Adekunle.
Motorists from Lagos Island heading to Ebute-Meta will be diverted to Ilubirin to connect Carter Beidge ( Idumota Bridge) to link Iddo inwards Otto/ Oyingbo axis and access Herbert Macaulay way to link their destinations.

Also, those coming from Victoria Island are advised to go through Bonny Camp to Onikan, Marina bridge, Apongbon to Eko bridge, Costain to Apapa road to Apena junction .
The commissioner, however noted that the entire 11.8km third Mainland bridge inward and outward will be opened for travel during the repair works as only the Adekunle ramp will be affected.
The project is expected to gulp about fifteen billion naira.
