Democratic candidate in the United States presidential election, Joe Biden has said he will nominate a black woman to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court bench, if elected.
Speaking at an event in Pennsylvania, the former American vice president restated his call on President Donald Trump to suspend the nomination process for a replacement for Justice Ruth Ginsburg who died on Friday, till after the presidential election- a call his Republican challenger has tossed to the side.
Trump has already said he will send a nominee to the Republican majority senate in the coming week.
This is a the debate continues between both divides on the morality of the American leader’s decision.
Key members of the Democratic Party have pointed to the situation in 2016, when the then outgoing president, Barack Obama back-pedalled on the nomination to the Supreme Court following calls by Senate Republicans that it was inappropriate for him to do with the Democrats in the majority, and as at then in control of the Senate.
