The Court of Appeal in Abuja has adjourned the hearing of the appeal filed by Governor Douye Diri challenging the nullification of his election as governor of Bayelsa State till September 24.

The adjournment came at the instance of the counsel for the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party, ANDP, Kehinde Ogunwunmiju, when another lawyer, Gabriel Egbule, announced his appearance for the same party.

Ogunwunmiju told the court that the ANDP Chairman, Charles Ogboli, did not inform him of any change and the petition was handled by him and also concluded where the Tribunal nullified Governor Diri’s election and ordered for another re-run.

He, however, asked the court for an adjournment to enable him put his house in order.

But counsel for Governor Diri, Chris Uche, opposed the application on the ground that it’s a delay tactics.

Justice Stephen Adah, who led the three panel of justices, adjourned till September 24 for hearing.

Previously, the Appeal Court dismissed the application for joiner filed by a faction of the ANDP seeking to join the suit filed by Senator Diri challenging the nullification of his election by a Tribunal in Abuja.
