Felele tanker explosion: Deceased families to get govt. assistance

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, says the State Government will in the quickest possible time, set up machinery that would identify the families of those involved in Wednesday’s tanker accident in the Felele axis of the state to provide succour to those left behind.

Governor Bello said this when he personally visited the scene of the accident on his return from Abuja where he had talks with the Federal Government on the plights of the citizens with respect to the roads.

Wednesday’s incident where lives were lost, following a brake failure of a tanker laden with petroleum products is still fresh in the minds of the government and citizens of Kogi state, especially those who lost their loved ones.

To demonstrate the government’s support, Bello was at the scene to physically commensurate with the Felele community, especially those who were affected by the unfortunate incident.

The Governor was very disturbed about the accident and assured that the State Government will identity with families of the victims.

The Chief Executive hinted that the Federal Government has already been briefed on the terrible condition of the federal roads in the state, hinting that the roads would receive positive attention in the coming days.

While assuring that the government would do its own parts in ensuring that the roads are motorable, Governor Bello also called on vehicle owners to see that their vehicles are equally roadworthy.

In the coming days, the State Government said the Ministry of Transportation would organize a sensitisation programme that would enlighten road users as precautionary measures to avert a repeat of the unfortunate incident.
