Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has assured that his administration will not relent in its effort to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people in order to justify the confidence reposed in him at the just concluded governorship election in the state.

The Governor, who gave this assurance at an interdenominational thanksgiving service organised by the Edo Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Benin City, also called on all to join hands with the State Government to move the state forward.

The highly anticipated September 19 governorship election in Edo State has come and gone, with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declaring Governor Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the winner when he polled three hundred and seven thousand, nine hundred and fifty-five votes against the candidate of the main opposition party, Osagie Ize-Iyamu who had two hundred and twenty-three thousand, six hundred and nineteen votes.

With a grateful heart, the Governor expressed his thanks to God for his success at the poll.

Obaseki appreciated all who stood by him through the turbulent pre-election period and assured the people of continued development.

He called for sustained peace in the state and urged all to stand in unity as his administration pursues further progress.

The Chairman of the CAN, Edo Chapter, Bishop Oyonude Kure, and General Overseer of the Spirit and Life Bible Church, Apostle Deb’rah Eunice Osagiede, also appreciated God for the peaceful conduct of the election in spite of political pundits prediction of an exercise marred by violence.
