Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers state

Contrary to insinuations in some quarters, Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara says he is a full-blooded Ijaw man, wondering why it should be an issue of concern to anybody

Speaking when he played host to a delegation of Kalabari chiefs who had come to inform him of arrangements being made for the funeral of their king, the late Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom Theophilus Princewill, Governor Fubara says the history or struggle of the Ijaw people can never be complete without the contribution of the ancient kingdom of Opobo where he comes from.

Dressed in their native black attire, the Kalabari chiefs were in Government House Port Harcourt to formally invite Governor Sim Fubara to the funeral of their late monarch, King Theophilus Princewill, Amacree the 11th and Amanayabo of Kalabari Kingdom

Though it was not a solidarity visit, the Kalabari chiefs used the opportunity to thank Governor Fubara for all he has done for the Kalabari kingdom

For Governor Sim, Fubara, the visit of the Kalabari chiefs provides him the opportunity to douse speculations about his ethnicity.

The governor promised to be Governor of all Rivers people, and recommits to fulfil every promise that he has made.

He noted that he will continue to stand for truth and justice, no matter the consequences.

The late Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom will be laid to rest on the 30th of November, 2023
