Suspected terrorists have launched an attack on travelers along the Dansadau – Gusau road killing one woman and injuring several passengers.

The incident was said to have happened at about 4 pm Saturday evening, when the travellers were on their way to Gusau, the Zamfara State capital when the terrorists opened fire on them.

The passengers were being escorted by security operatives, which is the ritual along the Dansadau road to Gusau, residents can not travel to Gusau without an escort, even with the escort the terrorists ambushed them and launched an attack on them.

Residents of the area who confirmed the development to ait.live said the attacks on the Dansadau emirate of Maru Local Government have become too many in recent times.

The locals said passengers who were left with gunshot wounds were rushed to Dansadau General Hospital for treatment while the community members were preparing to bury the woman who was killed by the terrorists.

In another development, eight persons have been abducted by suspected terrorists while harvesting soya beans on the farm at Baban Doka near the military camp in the Dansadau area of Maru Local Government in Zamfara State.

Residents said the incident occurred between the hours of 4 pm and 5 pm on Saturday evening.

Those people, the terrorists abducted from the farm are men, women, and children who were harvesting their produce.

The residents are attributing the resurgence of attack, abduction, and killing to lack of commitment by the Government and the troops that do not have the right sophisticated war hardware to confront the terrorists.

Efforts to get the Zamfara State Police Command to confirm the separate terrorist attacks were unsuccessful as the command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Yazid Abubakar did not respond to calls and SMS sent to him.
