The Civil Society Situation Room has called on Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to ensure quick passage of laws that prohibit vote-buying and other electoral offences in the Election Commission Bill.

Speaking to journalists after the Governorship election exercise in Akure, the group said the signing of the pending bill into law will address the increasing rate of vote buying and other offences during electioneering.

The situation room further urged INEC to use it’s existing laws to improve it’s performance in conducting forthcoming elections and described the Ondo state governorship election as relatively violence free despite the earlier political tension.
