The Rivers State Government has announced a ban on the ENDSARS protests in the state. This is contained in a statement signed by the commissioner for information Paulinus Nsirim
The ban also includes all other forms of protests throughout the State.
The Rivers Government says it took the decision because “the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad”.
The statement adds that “there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists”.
The government has called on parents and guardians to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order while threatening action against violators
“Law enforcement agencies are also directed to ensure that the ban is enforced and that violators are brought to book”.
The ENDSARS protests has seen youths take over major cities in Nigeria to demand an end to police brutality, extortion, illegal arrests, unlawful detention, and profiling of young Nigerians by the controversial police unit
After days of protest, the Inspector General of Police Muhammed Adamu on Sunday announced a dissolution of the unit while promising sweeping police reforms.
