Zamfara Govt. Pledges To Prioritise Girl-Child Education

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has reiterated his administration’s commitment to invest massively in girl-child education across the state. 

Governor Lawal attended an awareness lecture on Gender-based violence in Gusau, the state capital, organised by the office of his wife, Huriyya Lawal, as part of a 16-day activism.

Zamfara State in Northwest Nigeria joined their counterparts to mark 16 days of activism, which began with a walk of awareness, led by the wife of the governor, Hurriya Lawal, from the Sadauna Memorial Stadium to the emir of Gusau’s Palace.

Supported by Governor Lawal, His wife, Government functionaries and civil society converged on Maryam Hall to amplify the call for a collective response against gender-based violence.  

He observed that gender-based violence is a problem that is prevalent in the state and therefore requires programmes that will change the narrative.

The wife of the Zamfara State governor, Huriyya Lawal, commended the state government for addressing issues related to girls’ education. 

She said they were gathered to declare with one voice, that enough is enough!

“As the wife of the governor, it is my unwavering commitment to stand as an advocate of change— a catalyst for a society where every person, regardless Of Gender, can thrive in safety and equity,”

The event was attended by eminent traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders, who are expected to take the message against Gender-based violence to their domains towards eliminating the menace.
