Women in Kaduna State’s rural areas are advocating intensified Gender-based violence campaigns, to empower communities with essential information, in the fight against violence, targeting women and girls.

This view was echoed at an event to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria.

The initiative to commemorate the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls by the Hope for the Village Child underscores the importance of community-driven efforts against gender-based violence.

The event was an open discussion among rural women and their spouses, addressing challenges faced by women and girls, including domestic violence, unequal access to education, and healthcare.

Participants explored effective strategies to prevent and combat violence, fostering collaboration for safer environments.

The organizer stressed that involving men in the conversation is to create an enabling environment for women and girls to speak out freely.

The event strongly emphasized fostering awareness, community support, and implementing preventative measures to protect the rights and well-being of women and girls.

As the 16 Days of Activism unfolds, collective efforts are expected to resonate far beyond the event, bringing about lasting change at the grassroots level.
