Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has been attacked by some hoodlums while addressing #EndSARS protesters at Olaiya Junction in Osogbo, the State capital.

The Governor was immediately evacuated to safety from the scene of the incident and was unhurt.

Many of the #EndSARS protesters were however injured and several government vehicles damaged during the attack.

Some victims of the attack have been rushed to Asubiaro State Hospital for medical attention with the State Government promising to pay their medical bills.

Before the attack, Governor Oyetola had apologised to the #EndSARS protesters for not being able to address them since the protest started in the State. He assured the protesters that he believes in the genuine intention of the nationwide protest.

He told the protesters that the Presidency has directed all State Governors to constitute judicial panels of inquiry to look into the allegations of human rights abuse against operatives of the disbanded Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS and other police units.

The atmosphere later became tense as hoodlums suspected to be truck pushers started throwing dangerous objects at the Governor’s convoy including the vehicle that scampered him to safety.
