Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has directed contractors handling the Lagos-Ibadan rail project to re-examine the infrastructure with the aim of identifying areas that hinder the free movement of persons along the corridor.
Amaechi gave this directive in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, during an assessment of the ongoing construction of the rail stations.
He said he had received reports from communities along the corridor, whose roads have been cut off by the new standard gauge rail line.
Amaechi projected that the Kano-Maradi project may be next to begin, due to the source of its funding.

The over 1.7 billion dollars Lagos-Ibadan rail, which now stretches to the Apapa Ports, is expected to be delivered by January 2021.
