NECO

The National Examinations Council, NECO says it is constrained to reschedule the Paper one Computer Studies Practicals earlier scheduled to take place on Monday, October 19, 2020, for Monday, November 16 2020 over escalating #ENDSARS and #ENDINSECURITY Protest.

A statement by NECO Head of information, Azeez Sani said This unforeseen incident has been caused by the ENDSARS protest that blocked the free  movement of  transport at the City entrance gate Benin. The NECO delivery truck  had  left its take off point well in advance on Friday 16 October 2020, earlier to deliver examination materials to some states and has been held up in the blockage since then.

While regretting any inconveniences this rescheduling may cause, the  Council said it has however taken the decision in order to maintain the integrity and security of its examinations procedures for seamless conduct.

Meanwhile more schools have announced temporary closure following uncertainty created by the #ENDSARS Protest.

After AIT reported on Friday that some schools, particularly the Destiny Christian Academy owned by Dunamis international church returned students, the Africa community school Asokoro is among a few schools in the FCT which have announced closure from Monday.

One of the messages read in parts that “…In response to the #ENDSARS protest holding in Abuja, we write to inform you that Monday, October 19, 2020, will be a NO SCHOOL DAY, we will monitor the situation and keep you posted as events unfold.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause you but note that this decision was taken for the safety of our adorable pupils, parents and staff..” end of quote.

Last week many pupils and students were excited returning to school, after a five months compulsory holiday occasioned by the outbreak of CORONAVIRUS, another closure will definitely take smiles away from the school children, but the #ENDSARS and ##ENDINSECURITYNOW Protesters continue to stress that the action is to push for an end to bad governance in Nigeria.
