Osun state governor, Gboyega Oyetola has imposed a 24 hour curfew on the state starting from Saturday October 24.

Governor Oyetola who had earlier suspended an initial 24-hour curfew on Friday sighting substantial compliance by the people of the state said the new 24-hour curfew reimposed was necessitated as a result of fresh looting going on in the state.

Some youths in the state since Friday have been looting various warehouses where COVID-19 palliatives were kept and also looting individual warehouses and stores across the state.

In his broadcast, the Government notes with huge disappointment, the abuse of the suspension, a day ago, of the 24-hour curfew earlier declared in the State to forestall the breakdown of law and order and protect the lives and property of citizens and residents.

He disclosed that after an Emergency Security Meeting this afternoon, where the whole situation was reviewed and assessed, the government came to the inevitable conclusion to declare another curfew.

According to him the inevitable conclusion was reached to avert the continuation of this irresponsible act, especially now that the genuine protesters have suspended their protest.
