The United States Supreme Court now has its full compliment of Justices.
This follows the swearing in of Amy Coney Barret as an Associate Justice of the court at an event in the White House.
The forty-eight-year-old had been earlier confirmed by the United States Senate along party lines, with the Republicans voting in her favour, and the Democrats- forty- eight against.
Barret was administered the oath by the longest-serving justice on the U.S Supreme Court, Clarence Thomas, and she pledged to dispense justice in line with the U.S constitution.
The former law professor’s nomination and subsequent appointment to the court are seen by critics of President Donald Trump as a move to ensure he retains the White House, in the event that a dispute arises from the election which is barely seven days away.
