Fuel Scarcity: Long queues in Abuja, as NNPC warns against panic buying

Residents of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, are witnessing long queues at the fuel stations, as most filling stations are under lock and few pumps selling at the few stations that are opened for business.

Some motorists say they have been in queues for hours Since the early hours of Tuesday. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) last week, had warned of a looming petroleum scarcity in the country, following attacks on fuel tankers and the disruption of depot operations across the country by hoodlums, who had hijacked the #EndSARS protests.

Reacting to the queues, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Kennie Obateru, in a chat with AIT. online cautioned motorists against panic buying, stating that the corporation currently has over two billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol, in stock.
