Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi have commended the youths in the state for not partaking in the protest against Police brutality otherwise known as #EndSARS which was later hijacked by hoodlums.

The two leaders were speaking at a stakeholders meeting which also included the Minister of State for Agriculture, Mustapha Baba Shehuri, who was in company of other federal government delegation, to interface with political, traditional and religious leaders, as well as the civil society organisations.

The meeting was fashioned to advocate for peaceful coexistence in the society.

Borno Governor Babagana Zulum informed the gathering that he had security report that some hired miscreants were in the state to encourage Borno youths to embark on street protest against the military.

He says he has directed security agencies to crush any criminals coming to forment trouble.

” I have directed the Commissioner of Police, Director Department of Security Services, DSS, and other relevant security operatives to commence investigation and fish out those culprits so that the law will take its course against them and their sponsors.”

Zulum commends the efforts of the security agencies, including members of the disbanded SARS, for displaying gallantry as well as their sacrifices in the fight against insurgency and the restoration of peace in the state.

The Minister of State for Agriculture, Mustapha Baba Shehuri said, he was in his home state on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari to meet with stakeholders, on ways to ensure lasting peace and harmony in the state.

“This is the directive he has given to all ministers and other members of the Executive Council, to go to our respective states and engage political, community, religious and traditional leaders on the current event happening in the country.”

He says, the President thanks the youths in Borno for the way they conducted themselves during the protests.

The Shehu of Borno who is the Chairman of traditional rulers assured that the traditional institution would continue to play its role in maintaining peaceful coexistence amongst the diverse ethnic and religious groups, across the state.
