The Police in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State is deploying 7,194 personnel for the Local Government elections holding today, Saturday, across the state.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the state command, Odiko MacDon who dropped the hint in Uyo, the state capital, said that the men would be deployed in all polling units and collation centres in the state.

The idea is to ensure a hitch free exercise and to enforce the restriction of movement order during the polls.
MacDon said, though the main opposition political party in the state, the All Progressives Congress, APC, is not contesting, the police in collaboration with sister security agencies is however, poised to ensure that adequate security is provided, to prevent hoodlums and thugs from hijacking the exercise.
