As Christians in Niger State, North central Nigeria join millions of their counterparts the world over to celebrate this year’s Christmas, some faithful got live chickens as gifts from their churches.

The gifts were part of activities to mark the reason for this year’s celebration which is love according to the vice chairman of the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Reverend Ezekiel Ibrahim.

This year’s Christmas celebration in Minna, Niger state capital was different as some lucky faithful got live chickens as gifts at the United Missionary Church of Africa, UMCA, within the metropolis during the service.

The faithful got the gifts after picking numbers from among the line up of several gifts.

Another surprise gifts shared were Christmas cards which Farmer- Governor Umar Bago personally signed.

In his message during the service, the vice Chairman of CAN, reverend Ezekiel Ibrahim used the medium to preach peace and genuine love which the celebration seeks to achieve, amidst the hardship Nigerians are facing.

Other churches visited within the metropolis included St.Bennard Catholic church, Our Lady of Fatima, and the Assemblies of God Church where the faithful expressed happiness about the celebration.

Niger is one of the states prone to terrorist attacks in the north central but as of the time of this report, the Christmas celebration was observed peacefully without any report of attacks recorded across the 25 local government areas of the state
