Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has signed the 2024 Enugu State Appropriation Bill into law, following its recent approval by the State House of Assembly.

The budget, exceeding 521 billion Naira, designates 414 billion Naira for Capital Expenditure and 107 billion Naira for Recurrent Expenditure.

Governor Mbah assented to the 2024 fiscal appropriation law at the Executive Chamber of the Enugu State Government House.

This milestone comes 22 days after presenting the bill to the State House of Assembly and just a week after the legislative arm passed the fiscal proposal.

The budget’s focal points highlights the government’s commitment to spending over 400 billion Naira on capital projects.

Governor Mbah notably stresses the distinctive aspect of relying on domestic revenue mobilization, steering clear of extensive borrowing.

In the inaugural full-year budget circle, the new administration makes historic investments in critical sectors such as schools, hospitals, and roads infrastructure.

Governor Mbah is optimistic that these investments will bridge gaps in social welfare services.

Acknowledging potential inconveniences for Enugu state residents, Governor Mbah explains that the proposed transformations may require adjustments, including areas where road expansions or new infrastructures are necessary, thereby affecting existing buildings.

Despite these challenges, the Governor urges the people of Enugu State, to bear with the government during this transformative period, emphasizing the long-term benefits which will enhance the overall well-being of the state.
