The wife of the governor of Cross River State, Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, says the welfare of children must be prioritized by their parents, the government, and all members of the society
She said this on Wednesday in Calabar, the state capital, while flagging off the first Children’s Carnival after an eight-year hiatus.
The governor’s wife harped on the importance of reintroducing the Children’s Carnival to the state Carnival Calendar, noting that the carnival is the platform where children get exposed and and mingle with their peers and role models.
Minister for Humanitarian Affairs And Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, who was present during the flag-off of the Children’s Carnival, spoke on the importance of people showing compassion to one another.
She called for peace in Nigeria and the world over, stressing that children, who are the future leaders must be properly trained to follow the right path
The theme for the children’s carnival which processed along a four kilometre route in Calabar has the theme”Season of Sweetness”.
