Concerned Journalists Forum are calling on the Inspector-general of Police, Muhammed Adamu, to release detained 72-year-old ailing journalist, Tom Uhia, who has been in police custody for 3weeks, or charge him to court.

He is being detained over a publication that the Minister of State For Power, Goddy Jeddy Agba, was allegedly involved in shady deals worth N1bn when he was a top management member of the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

The forum says, the septuagenarian also accused the minister for his involvement in the 2012 Dana Air crash.

Speaking on behalf of the minister, the Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Power, Ofe Ekiti, disagrees with the forum.

He says the outcome of the Dana crash by the Accident Investigation Bureau did not indict his principal.

The Minister of State says he has no hand in the continued detention of the veteran journalist, as he has not provided documents to the police to back up the allegation he published.
