The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, has invited the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu over an alleged financial misappropriation in the Ministry.
The invitation came immediately after President Bola Tinubu announced Betta’s suspension from office through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale pending the investigation.
Sources close to the EFCC who confirmed the development revealed that the commission swung into action immediately after the President ordered a thorough investigation into an alleged payment of over 585 million naira grant meant for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun and Lagos states into a private account.
Meanwhile the Sources also revealed that the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar-Farouk is still with Interrogators in the EFCC’s office offering explanation on financial allegations on her while in office.
Umar-Farouk had been a guest at the Anti-graft Agency’s office since 11am monday, it is not clear when she would be leaving.
