The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP makes a U-turn as it now confirms that the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, left the opposition party for personal reasons, which Nigerians will come to know at the fullness of time.
The National publicity secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement shortly after briefing media earlier that the party is yet to receive such news from the Ebonyi governor, commends Umahi for services rendered to the people of Ebonyi state, as the State Chairman of Ebonyi PDP from 2003 to 2007 and the deputy governor of Ebonyi state from 2007 to 2015 as well as his two-term tenure as the governor of Ebonyi from 2015 till date.
Ologbondiyan noted that The National Working Committee, NWC of the PDP rose from a crucial meeting on Tuesday and announced the dissolution of the ward, local government and state executive committees of the Ebonyi state chapter of the party forthwith.
The party’s spokesperson says the NWC also dissolved the Southeast Zonal Caretaker Committee of the party as the decisions are pursuant to the powers conferred on the committee by the party constitution.
He calls on the members to remain calm and committed to the ideals of the party as no individual is bigger than the PDP.
