The Katsina State Government has proposed a total of 283billion Naira for the 2021 fiscal year.
The 2021 appropriation bill tagged, ‘Budget of Recovery and Consolidation’, is designed to complete ongoing projects and initiate other capital projects that can be completed within the life of the administration.
The 2021 budget estimates which was presented by Governor Aminu Masari to the Katsina State House of Assembly, is made up of 70 percent capital expenditure and 30 percent recurrent.
He added that the total amount projected to finance the 2021 Budget is the sum of 172 billion Naira, which comprises of 57 billion, as Internally Generated Revenue from the Board of Internal Revenue, MDAs and balances of the 2020Budget, while the revenue receivable through the Federation Account is estimated at the sum of 115 billion Naira.
Masari noted that the 2021 recurrent revenue has increased by 37.20% over that of 2020, adding that, the recurrent expenditure in the 2021 budget has also increased by 20.85%, which indicates that in real terms, the revenue has increased by about 37.20% over that of 2020 fiscal year, with overall total of 35.1 percent performance.
The Governor stressed that 6 key Ministries Works, Health, Water Resources, Environment, Agriculture and Education, have the lion shares of 44 billion, 27 billion, 23 billion, 24 billion, 21 billion, and 19 billion Naira respectively, representing 28, 18, 17, 15, 14 and 12 percent of the total budget.

The Speaker of the state Assembly, Tasiu Maigari, promised to do a speedy and thorough job, before the end of year 2020 so as to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
