The Federal High Court Abuja has adopted the administrative bail granted former Anambra Governor, Willie Obiano by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after he pleaded not guilty to money laundering charges amounting to over N4 billion.
The bail conditions however include providing two sureties who are directors in the civil service, and own landed properties in Abuja. He is also to tender his international passport to the court which also ordered that the Nigeria Immigration Service be alerted that all his travel documents are with the court.
Justice Inyang Ekwo while adopting the administrative bail added that Obiano should remain within Federal Capital Territory Abuja for the duration of his trial
The immediate past Anambra Governor had pleaded not guilty to the nine-count charge bothering on stealing, corruption and money laundering preferred against him by the EFCC.
Obiano had arrived at the Abuja division of the Federal High Court for arraignment in company of some EFCC officials who detained him on Tuesday when he honoured an invitation over the allegations against him.
The development comes over a week after the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, vowed to review all abandoned high-profile cases, especially those involving former governors and ministers.
