Navy destroys 5 illegal refineries in Ondo

The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Igbokoda, Ondo state has destroyed five illegal refineries containing a total of 365,000 litres of crude oil at Araromi Sea-Side of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base, Igbokoda, Navy Captain Wasuku Alushi, made this known during a tour of the illegal refining sites with Journalists on Wednesday.

Barely two weeks after the Launch of “Operation Delta Sanity” by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, to cambat criminality, the initiative has started to yield some results even as men of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Igbokoda, Ondo discovered five sites of Illegal refineries with over 365,000 illegally refined crude oil in the Araromi forest

The commanding officer,Navy Captain Wasuku Alushi who led the operation said the effort is to curb crude oil theft in the Niger Delta area to sanitize the environment.

Alushi appealed to the community leaders to co-operate with security Agencies to check the illegal act which he says is having negative effects on the Nation’s economy.

The Naval base assured that it will not relent in ending the menace of crude oil theft, illegal refineries, cultism and related crimes in the region.
