Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has expressed full commitment of the State Government to enforce the proposed seven -day heightened security operations in the state in order to check the rising cases of armed robbery and other criminal activities occasioned by the hijack of the EndSARS protests and has as well called for an in-depth investigation into the two jail breaks in the state capital.
The Governor stated this when he received the General Officer Commanding Two Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Anthony Omozoje and Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, Chairman of the Inspector General of Police IGP Assessment Team at Government House, Benin City on Friday.
In the wake of recent #EndSARS protests; hoodlums under the guise of the protests unleashed mayhem on Government institutions, security structures, and private property.
The two main correctional facilities in Benin City were broken into; setting inmates free.

The jailbreaks have increased robbery cases especially in the city centre and environs leaving residents in distress.
The General Officer Commanding Two Division of the Nigerian Army Major General Anthony Omozoje is in Benin to put in place measures to check criminal activities in the city.
This was as the Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, also arrived Benin in his capacity as the Chairman, IG Committee on assessment of losses of the Nigerian Police in the impacted states of #EndSars disturbances.
Receiving him, the visitors, Governor Obaseki called for a thorough inquiry into the jailbreaks.
