Defence, Transport Ministers inspect facilities for Deep Blue Maritime Security Project

Minister of Defence, Major-General Bashir Magashi (Rtd) has expressed satisfaction with the level of work done to ensure that the Deep Blue Maritime Security Project takes off soon.

Magashi who alongside his Transportation counterpart, Chibuike Amaechi and other key players were in the Edo State capital, Benin City to inspect facilities at the 81 Air Maritime Group of the Nigerian Air Force, assured that the project will ensure the country’s waterways are secure.

The Federal Government has demonstrated commitment to rid Nigerian territorial waters of criminalities through the Deep Blue Project also known as the Integrated Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure. The project involves various strata of security services in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation.

The two ministers say they are satisfied with the level of work done so far towards protecting the waterways and in combating maritime crimes. The Deep Blue Project will provide both land and air surveillance.
