The Federal government has been called upon, to strictly regulate the entry of herders, as part of measures to effectively curb crime and boost the country’s security architecture.
State Governor Samuel Ortom, made the call while receiving the United Nations High Commission For Refugees, UNHCR delegation.
The United Nations refugee agency, led by its deputy representative on protection Roger Hollo, had outlined its programs which will be of benefit to the State, currently hosting not just refugees, but Internally Displaced Persons, IDP’s.

While pledging his commitment to the existing partnership, the Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, renewed his call on the Federal Government to return the IDP’S to their ancestral home.
Since early 2018 the State has had a major humanitarian crisis, thus accommodating and catering for thousands of displaced people, including Cameroonian refugees.
