Similarly, two interstate suspected criminals from Niger State, terrorising Katsina and Kano States were also arrested.

Police spokesman, Gambo Isah, who made this known in a statement, added that, as a result of the gun duel, many of the suspected kidnappers and bandits escaped with gunshot wounds.

According to Isah, the rescue was made possible, as a result of the swift response by the Area Commander of Dutsinma, who led Operation Puff Adder to Habul Mountain, on the fringes of the dreaded Rugu Forest.

He added that the team laid siege on the possible escape route of the bandits who followed through, and consequently, there was an exchange of gunfire, leading to the rescuing of the kidnapped victim, and recovering of two unregistered Bajaj motorcycles, belonging to the bandits.

Isah said, police teams are presently combing the forest with a view to arresting the wounded bandits or recover their dead bodies.

For the 2 interstate suspected criminals, the police image maker said, they were accosted when they broke into three dwelling houses at Kwado Quarters Katsina and stole household items.

He said, in the course of the investigation, large bunches of master keys were recovered from them as they both confessed to being members of the organized syndicate of thieves that specialized in housebreaking and theft, using master keys.
