World Bank, Erosion Management Project commences rehabilitation of affected areas in Gombe

There is some respite for the people of Gombe local government as the World Bank, Nigerian Erosion Watershed Management Project and the Gombe state government would commence the rehabilitation of areas affected by Gully erosion in parts of the state’s metropolis.

This is due to the support of the World Bank in collaboration with the Gombe state government that would see the sum of three billion naira used for the project for the duration of seven months to tackle the growing number of gully erosion sites spread across the metropolis

This is indeed a respite for the people in Gombe metropolis as the government agencies commence the rehabilitation of areas affected by gully erosion which had defined the landscape of the state.

This was confirmed with an agreement between government agencies and the world bank to tackle the growing cases of gully erosion in the affected areas.

The rehabilitation would take place in phases with the first phase at seven months and affected areas such as the Gombe state university and other areas in the metropolis being part of this phase.

This first phase of rehabilitation of affected areas in the metropolis would begin in the coming days as there are moves to rehabilitate other areas in the state affected by gully erosion.

Gombe government agencies signed agreement with the World Bank to tackle the gully erosion in the state.
