The Nigerian government says it has recorded over 2,056 cases of fire incidents in the year 2020 alone.
Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, revealed this in Akure,Ondo State, on Monday, at the commissioning of a fire fighting truck.
The Minister noted that while more than a trillion naira worth of asset have been destroyed, 724 lives, have been saved during the incidents by the men of the fire service.
Aregbesola, who cautioned against the indiscriminate bush burning to avert fire disaster in the dry season, however, encouraged however Nigerians to be committed to the prevention of fire outbreak.

Earlier, the Controller-General, Federal Fire Service, Dr. Liman Ibrahim, had said that the Agency was willing to collaborate with the state government to reduce the growing cases of fire outbreak across the country.
