Operation Akpakwu arrests notorious kidnap leader, Bassey Bassey Etim in Calabar

The most wanted notorious kidnapper and cult leader in Calabar, Bassey Bassey Etim has been nabbed by the newly inaugurated Joint Security Outfit codenamed, “Operation Akpakwu, ” on Tuesday Morning.

He was picked up around Anantigha Area of Calabar South Local Government of Cross River State.

Bassey was arrested alongside three others who have been on the wanted list of the security operatives for kidnapping, cultism and other crimes in Calabar and its environments.

In a telephone interview with the Permanent Secretary, Security Services, Alfred Mboto, he explained that Bassey and his gang were spotted around the Anantigha axis of Calabar South.

“Operation Akpakwu responded immediately and surrounded all escape perimeter, then clamped on the criminal ring suspect with his gang.”

Mboto said, Security in Cross River State has been rejigged, warning anyone with criminal mind to have a change for good, or relocate out of the state.

He said Operation Akpakwu has been empowered to investigate, prevent and arrest any criminals in Cross River, no matter how highly placed the person or group of persons are.
