Ahead of local councils’ election, Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, has begun training 88 Electoral Assistant and Electoral Officers for the successful conduct of the elections slated for January 16, 2021.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission, ICPC, also pledged to monitor and fight corruption during the poll.
The KANSIEC said that the conduct of its Electoral Officers during elections is what will make it credible or otherwise, noting therefore that there is need for Electoral Officers to consider their assignment as very important .
The Chairman of the Commission, Professor Garba Sheka, said local government election is critical to deepening democracy in the country.
The Commissioner for The ICPC, Zaiyanu Danmusa, said the Commission deems it necessary to partner with the KANSIEC in the training of its officers saddled with the responsibility of conducting the election.

The local government election will hold on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
