President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of Rubby C. Onwudiwe as member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
The request is contained in a letter read by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio at the commencement of plenary on Wednesday.
President Tinubu says the nomination is in compliance with the provisions of section 10(1) of the CBN Establishment Act 2007.
Rubby Onwudiwe is to replace Urum Kalu Eke who was earlier nominated for the position by President Tinubu to represent the South-East on the Board of the CBN which he rejected.
Urum Eke is a consultant to the World Bank and other international financial institutions which he says will not allow him enough time to function effectively on the Board of the CBN.
The request for confirmation on the new nominee was thereafter referred to the Senate Committee on Banking and Other Financial Institutions.
