The supreme court of Nigeria has sworn in 72 new senior advocates of Nigeria.
The ceremony was conducted by the second most senior justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Bode Rhodes Viviour following the absence of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad.
No explanation was given for his absence.
The investiture of new sans is normally held during the ceremony marking the commencement of a new legal year of the Supreme Court and has always been presided by the sitting Chief Justice of Nigeria.
