Financial impropriety arrangement of Obla, 2 other’s fail

The arraignment of the suspended chairman of the Special Investigation Panel on recovery of public property (SPIP), Okoi Obono-Obla, and two others could not hold as slated.

When the matter came up on Tuesday counsel for the second defendant, Abel Oziokwu told the court that the defendant, Aliyu Ibrahim who was in court at the previous date was not in court, as he was advised to go on isolation having exhibited symptoms of COVID -19.

Abel therefore urged the court for an adjournment pending when his test result will be out.

Prosecution counsel, Samuel Ipinlelaye and the defence counsel, Paul Erokoro

Did not oppose the application in view of the medical record presented.

Although Obla and Daniel Omughele were in court, the arraignment has been adjourned to January 22, 2021.

Obono-obla was suspended as the chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the recovery of public property (SPIP).

President Muhammadu Buhari in august 2019, suspended Obono-Obla from office over falsification of records and financial impropriety among several allegations.

Also joined in the charge is his senior assistant, special duties (protocol), Aliyu Ibrahim, and the managing director of abr Global Petroleum Resources ltd, Daniel omughele.
