Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, has lauded his wife’s commitment towards empowering women at the grassroots.
Governor Emmanuel gave the commendation in Uyo at the launch of the Family Enhancement Youth Reorientation Path – Initiative, FEYReP Multipurpose Cooperative loan scheme for small and medium scale businesses in the state.
Wife of the state governor and initiator of the scheme, Martha Emmanuel, pointed out that the occasion marked another milestone in her effort to better the living conditions of people in the state.
1,800 women from the 31 local government areas of the state were empowered to start businesses and governor Udom Emmanuel represented by his chief of staff, Ephraim Inyang-eyen stated that his wife, Martha was impacting positively on the lives of women.
Wife of Enugu state governor, Monica Ugwuanyi, who was a special guest at the event hailed Mrs Emmanuel for her vision in establishing the cooperative to better the lot of her women.
